About the Author: Author and speaker R. Larry Moyer received
his ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary and his DMin from Gordon-Conwell
Theological Seminary. He has been working in the field of evangelism
out-reach and training for nearly forty years.
He is the founder and CEO of EvanTell, Inc., an evangelism training
ministry in Dallas, Texas, and speaks at evangelistic outreaches, training
seminars, and in churches and classrooms across the country. My Thoughts On The Book: This book is a companion piece for Show Me How To Preach Evangelistic Sermons. I previewed that book yesterday because I felt both books needed their moment in the sons This second book is a helpmate for preachers to connect the message for non-believers. I was very impressed with the way Moyer begins the book by outlining the usefulness of illustrations and shows the reader where to find illustrations and how to use humor in the message. Moyer’s way is that a well- illustrated evangelistic sermon should have at least fifteen illustrations in a 30 minute sermon. He uses three main headings in his book: Sin, Substitution, and Saving Faith. Moyer believes that these three are essential elements for Evangelistic messages. I loved the illustrations he gave. As a lay speaker I find locating illustrations difficult so I am glad that Moyer provided so many. I would use both books at the same time when preparing a sermon or speaking at a speaking engagement.
