Hunting Hope

25943167

About The Book:  Hunting Hope: Dig Through the Darkness to Find the Light (April 2016, Worthy Inspired)   Hope is not an accident. Sometimes it has to be hunted, and hunting it takes courage.

Hope hunters know how to excavate hope from hardship. There is dirt underneath their fingernails and sweat on their shirts. They rake through the rubble of an unwanted situation, digging into difficult circumstances because they have come to expect that adversity will produce good. They believe that light always triumphs over darkness. They have learned to walk through winter with their eyes on spring.

Nika Maples became a hope hunter after suffering a massive brainstem stroke that left her quadriplegic in her twenties. Doctors warned that she had as little as 48 hours to live, and---if she lived at all---she would never walk or talk again. There was no hope on the horizon. So Nika started to hunt for it. Today, she not only walks, but she speaks to audiences everywhere about the power of hunting hope when a situation appears hopeless. She says hope remains camouflaged in the daily mundane. If we are not looking for it, we will miss it, though it is right before our eyes.

Whether you or someone you know is going through a situation that feels hopeless, you will find encouragement in Hunting Hope. Whether you are experiencing a medical trauma, a financial hardship, or a relational crisis, you will find empowerment in Hunting Hope. As you read, you will cling to 20 truths about God's character and practice 5 daily disciplines that will develop your own character in crisis.

You will become a hope hunter.

Maybe it doesn't matter what causes suffering in our lives as much as it matters what suffering causes in our lives. Maybe we were all meant to be hope hunters.

My Thoughts On The Book:  This was my first book by Nika Maples and it will not be my last.  She is one impressive writer, who writes straight from the heart. Using her own personal experiences seasoned with scripture and some advice Nika Maples has produced one amazing book.  I felt as if she was walking in my skin, thinking my thoughts, and saying words I know are in there.   This book is one I will add to my personal library and share with my friends who are hunting hope.  I am so blessed to have read it!  Hunting Hope  would make an awesome gift, small group, book club, or even class study.  Are you a hunter of hope?  If you are....this is a must read!  I hope you enjoy it.

An Endless Christmas

About The Book: Too many people, too much snow, and too little room should be a recipe for disaster.  Christmas takes a very different turn when the guests of honor break up instead of announcing their engagement. Trapped with his family, they learn that love looks different than either imagined. Both in their eighties, Dodie and Wilson Binder celebrate every Christmas as if it were their last. This year, their grandson Micah is planning to ask his girlfriend, Katie, to marry him so they can celebrate with the whole family. But things go very wrong when she says, "no." Now they are stuck. Too many people, too much snow, and too little room should be a recipe for disaster. But sometimes too much is just enough. Especially when it's Christmas.
About The Author: Drawing from 33 years of on-air radio ministry, Cynthia Ruchti tells stories of hope-that-glows-in-the-dark through her novels and novellas, nonfiction books and devotionals, and speaking for women's and writers' events. Her books have been recognized by Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice Awards, Selah Awards, the Gayle Wilson Award of Excellence, Christian Retailing's BEST Awards, and Carol Award nominations, among other honors, including a Family Fiction Readers' Choice Award. She and her plot-tweaking husband live in Pittsville, Wisconsin, not far from their three children and five grandchildren.  Connect with Cynthia: website, Twitter, Facebook
My Thoughts On The Book:  This book would have been about my family.  We had huge Christmas's like this every year until my mother's generation all passed away.  This was a tender story and made me wish for that kind of Christmas memory once again.  Ruchti did a wonderful job of building her characters and making them real, flaws and all.  I loved being part of this family, even if was just for a little while.  Once I began reading I did not want anyone disturbing me.  My only problem with this book was that I was not ready for it to end.  It was my first Christmas read of the season and I am so ready to celebrate like the Binder's now.

Mom Seeks God

About the book: The first months and years of motherhood can be the most challenging and disorienting of your life---and faith. When you're surrounded by the happy chaos of children, how do you spend quiet time with God if the only quiet time you get is while you sleep? How can you demonstrate a solid spiritual life to your children if you don't have time to pursue one yourself?  When Julia Roller discovered that her spiritual growth had been stunted by the busyness of life with her toddler, she embarked on a yearlong journey through ten spiritual disciplines: prayer, fellowship, submission, study, simplicity, silence, worship, fasting, service, and celebration. As she focused on each discipline, she discovered practical ways to observe them---even in the chaos of her every day.

My Thoughts About The Book:    As a grandmother of grown grandchildren all I can think is how I would have loved this book when I was the mother of small children! Throughout the book it feels as if Julia Roller comes beside you,   affirming, encouraging, and motivating young, busy mothers to seek God.  She lets her readers know that if God takes you to it he will most definitely bring you through it.  I highly recommend for any busy mom who wants more.  This book would be a great book for new moms.
