Come join the weekly flash mob of writers at Lisa-Jo Bakers, FiveMinuteFriday. I love this place. It is where a beautiful crowd spends five minutes all writing on the same topic and then sharing ‘em over here. I know I have peaked your interest and you are dying to know just how to join. So click that here and go see. Every week Lisa-Jo picks a post that has caught her eye and shares it down there in her side bar – where it says “Featured Five Minute Friday”? Yeppers -that could be you! Hop on over and visit some folk who make fireworks in just five minutes. They inspire me and they might inspire you.
Now, set your timer, clear your head, for five minutes of free writing without worrying about getting it right.
1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..
Oh and Ahem, if you would take pity and turn off comment verification, it would make leaving some love on your post that much easier for folks!
OK, are you ready? Please give us your best five minutes on:::
Todays word is FOCUS:
GO:
I have trouble staying focused. I have never been diagnosed.....because back in the 50's and 60's they did not have a diagnosis for children who had difficulty staying focused. Today they are called ADD. Back in the day we were called precocious. My first grade teacher got my parents to buy extra workbooks for me so she could keep me focused....on task. I try so hard to stay focused but as soon as something catches my attention I am off chasing squirrels. When I write or when I read I can stay on task forever....totally focused. A bomb could go off and I would still be lost in my writer/reader world. Frank has tremendous focus. He has to to do scroll saw work. I have two autistic students this year....one of the characteristics of their disease is that they focus to the extreme. One of my students reads his Kindle and his Spanish book at the same time. He has amazing focus and he has over a 100 average in my class. The other one taps drum beats and reads at the same time...talk about focused. He taps a beat to his speech. It is amazing. The student who reads is a student after my own heart.....the one who taps a drum beat interrupts all my focus and I fight internally to stay focused. When he beats his desk drum my mind goes into music mode and I am gone....focus has left the building. Sigh!

Loved this post!
Good post.
I agree with you on that I can stay focused in my writer/reader world. When I was a kid, my mom used to joke that the only way she could get my head out of a book was to ask, "Would you like a Pepsi?"
