I wish I had been around acapella groups when I was younger. I would have loved this. I love shows about them. I love the purity of the music. Last night Frank, Beth, Renee and I went to see Pitch Perfect 2 in LaGrange. We had all seen the first one and loved the music....the plot not so much....but the music was awesome. The second round had some amazing music in it....but the story line was from hunger. The story line goes something like this: It's been three years since the Barden Bellas (Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson) became the first all-female group to win a national title. All seems well until a botched Lincoln Center performance for the president leads to a scandal that strips them of their performing duties, causing internal tension … Moreand strife. With the world championships on the horizon in Copenhagen, Denmark, the women must get their act together for their one and only shot at redemption. There was a good bit of vulgarity that I could have done without....but the music was amazing and the ending was to die for. After the movie we ate dinner at the Brickhouse Grille and discussed the movie. This is more of an adult type movie....so ladies leave your young daughters at home.
I am a woman who wears many hats and loves them all. I am a singer - I sing with the group Still Magnolias. I was part of the original First United Methodist Church Arbor Praise Team until we moved. After 24+ years of teaching English 11 and Spanish I - II at Benjamin Russell High School I decided to take a job closer to home. I now teach Spanish I & 2 at Randolph Co. High School and Wadley. I thought I was getting close to retirement and looking forward to it, but decided to move my cheese and try something different. I am a preacher's wife and a preacher myself. My husband Frank is the pastor at Rock Mills United Methodist Church and I am the pastor at Midway (Wedowee). It has made our conversations interesting, to say the least.
