2015 A-Z April Challenge - O Is For Only You

Today's letter is O and since I am a huge fan of Doo Wop I thought I would share one of my favorite songs from the early 1950's by The Platters.  "Only You (And You Alone)" (often shortened to "Only You") is a pop song composed by Buck Ram.   It was recorded most successfully by The Platters, with lead vocals by Tony Williams, in 1955.  I remember watching my parents dance to this song in our living room.  My mom would be wearing her taffeta dress with the full circle skirt and my dad would have on dress pants, a white shirt with the sleeves rolled to 3/4 length, and a tie.  My parents were a beautiful couple. (They are the ones on the right..my Uncle Bob and Aunt Betty are on the left.) 

I loved to watch my mom croon the song in my dad's ear while they danced to the music....right there in our living room.  I guess why this song has always been so special.  Nobody can do this song like The Fabulous Platters and even today when I hear this song it makes me smile.  It is one of those song you just want to dim the lights, grab a partner, and slow dance to.  When I hear it I close my eyes and I can still see them smiling and dancing with each other....because with them they had something very rare....it truly was......
