Mother's Day Hodge Podge

After a week off it is nice to say "Welcome back to the Hodgepodge friends." It's nice to be back on the blog.  Let's get started. Add your link at the end of Joyce's post IF you've answered today's questions. Happy Wednesday!

1. What's a phrase your mother often said to you? If you're a parent, is this something you now say to your own children?  My mom had several.  She was a southern mama....who was Jewish at heart I think.  She could come up with some doozies.  "Do you want your face to freeze like that?  If your friends jumped off a bridge would you? (I did this once when I was young and foolish.  It was terrifying).  I did say things like this to my own children....and laughed at myself after it was out of my mouth.  2. What is a scent you associate with your mother or your childhood home?  The smell of banana pudding cooking, vanilla, and cinnamon.3. What's an activity you remember always doing with your mother (or someone who was a mother figure in your life)?  Going to the beach.  My mom loved the beach as much as we did.  Sewing was another memory.  We would go to Davis' 5 & 10 for the fabric and then make something.  It was fun.  She loved antiquing too...and always took me.  I remember as a small child putting on my white gloves when we entered a Palm Beach antique store so we would not smudge anything with fingerprints.
4. Flared jeans, maxi dresses, and jumpsuits are 70's fashion trends back this spring. Are you on board? Which trend would you be most inclined to try? For the men...flared corduroys, wide-collared shirts, and floral prints...what say you?  I am with Joyce and I will not be wearing any sort of jumpsuit, that much is for certain. I think that might have been a cute look for me back in the 70's, but not in the 00's.  While I like the idea of a maxi dress and have tried to make it work, I just have not found the right one yet.   I would probably wear a flared jean, not a super wide crazy flare but a small flare would be okay.  I think the men should leave that style alone.
5. May 6th is Teacher Appreciation Day and also Nurse Appreciation Day. Is there a nurse or teacher you have especially appreciated along the way? Tell us why?  I've been fortunate to have so many wonderful teachers all throughout my schooling, but the teacher I most appreciate right now would be my daughter Kat.  She has taught Early Childhood Special Ed for the past 11 years and is now a missionary in Moldova.  I want to tell her how much I appreciate all that she does.  She is an amazing teacher.
6. If I came by your house, what would I find on your frig door?   Right now magnets that are reminders of places I have been, a Christmas tree Kat made when she was 5 (she will be 5 in June),  and graduation/wedding invitations and reminders of Dr.'s apps that are upcoming.  7. Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana made her royal entrance on Saturday, May 2nd. On a scale of 1-10, how much attention did you give to all the news coverage? 1=Who's Charlotte? 10=sat glued to the telly, cuppa in hand.  Zero was not a choice but it would be my answer.
8.  Insert your own random thought here.  When Kat was 5 she made me a Mother's Day card in Sunday School.  I carry it in my bible.  It is simple with a heart on the front and a flower and says, "Mom's are great, Mom's are grand.....and then you open it and it states, "Mom's are everything but a man."  You've got to love her.
