Today is my 62nd birthday and so I am choosing a song for my music themed A-Z
April Blog Challenge that makes me happy. My letter is M today and
my song is Mr. Sandman. "Mr. Sandman" (sometimes rendered as "Mister Sandman") is a popular song written by Pat Ballard which was published in 1954(the year I was born) and first recorded in May of that year by Vaughn Monroe & His Orchestra and later that same year by The Chordettes. The song's lyrics convey a request to "Mr. Sandman" to "bring me a dream" – the traditional association with the folkloric figure, the sandman. My favorite version is done by Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, and Dolly Parton (The Trio). Once this song gets in your head it is hard to shake. Happy Friday!

A great big and loud happy birthday to you! I remember Mr. Sandman very well and the trio's version, too. Thanks for sharing this morning and have a wonderful celebration!
