Happy Belated Anniversary Mom.....and Dad!

March 19th, 1951 my parents married in a small ceremony at the courthouse in Meridian, MS. They got off work that morning, drove to Meridian, and came back in time to go back to work. I have always loved this story. The funny part of it was that three of their friends went with them. My godmother, Francis was one, and then there was married couple Love and Roscoe. My dad said that Roscoe sat at the door to the judges chambers with his foot propped across the door. Talk about a shot-gun wedding. They never had a reception. They never got wedding gifts. They got each other and that was enough. For 58 years my parents stuck it out through thick-and-thin. The love they shared was amazing. He was the harmony to her song.....and she his. I am one of the fortunate ones who got to grow up with the same parents. My father died in October or 2009 and I remember how grieved my mom was that next March....it would have been their 59th anniversary. This year....would have been their 60th....and the sad part is....she doesn't even remember my dad's name any more. So I thought I would dedicate a song to them....and share some of their wonderful memories. I wanted to do it on the 19th....but just couldn't. Have a wonderful Monday!
