Project 365 - Week 11

Wow I can hardly believe we have been at this eleven weeks.  It seems like the first of the year was just last week and here it is mid-March.  Sara, from over at ...make music from your heart to the Lord, has got Mr. Linky open so if you want to see some more really awesome pictures then check her site out.  I hope you enjoy my humble offerings this week as much as I enjoyed collecting them.

Sunday - March 6th

Sunday was my Uncle and Aunt's 50th wedding anniversary and Frank and I left after lunch to go to Alex City and make an appearance.  It had rained several days last week and so Hillabee Creek was very angry and out of the natural bank.  Of course this is nothing like what they are experiencing in New Jersey, but we have been under flash flood warnings a good bit of the week.  The little barn is so just outside of Daviston.  I pass it every day and can never seem to catch the shot due to traffic....but Frank stopped on Sunday....and grabbed it for me.  (Truth be know he just wanted to play with the new camera...)

Monday-March 7th

Monday it was still pretty gray but I really wanted to get you some pictures of the Wehadkee Mills which is right down the road from my house.  The local kids swim in the water pool and obviously some creative person has waded out and painted a flag on one of the rocks just past the dam.  Wehadkee Mills used to make socks....but like most other textile plants it is no longer in operation.

Tuesday-March 8th
Tuesday I was coming home from work and decided to grab this sign.  It was quite a thought provoking one don't you agree?  I have numerous bibles and it really disturbs me to see a dusty one.

Wednesday-March 9th
Wednesday night we took part in an Ash Wednesday service.  For us Lent means giving up something as a outward sacrifice for the next 40 days.  In the past I have given up french fries, chocolate, sweets, Diet Cokes, etc.  This year Frank and I decided to give up part of ourselves and take part in 40 day of prayer...together.  We are using one of the books I reviewed earlier in the week by Squire Rushnell and Louise Duart. In reading the book I discovered that even though we both have prayer lives....we don't take time to pray together.  For the next 40 days we will be doing this.

Thursday-March 10th

Thursday is bowling night and after Frank picked me up we drove down Hwy 63 to a new sub-division Russell Lands is developing.  The main office is all that is complete so far and it is so cute.  I love the little water mill.  I guess that is my theme this week....water mills.  I can't wait to see what the sub-division looks like when they finish.

Friday - March 11th

Friday night we ate supper at Rock Mills School.  It was a spaghetti dinner fund-raiser and the food was very good.  After dinner Frank and I had to run to Wal-mart for a few supplies and on the way we stopped by our next door neighbors house.  Wayne and Amy have a building in their yard that is covered with the coolest signs and I just had to share a few with you.  The last one is my favorite.  In South Florida it is nothing to see this sign posted on the road.  My dad actually ran over a gator once when I was little.  It felt like a ginormous speed bump....and the gator kept on crossing.

Saturday - March 12th

Saturday was a busy day.  One of our church members was in the hospital in LaGrange, GA so we left early to go by and see her.  Between our house and LaGrange is another one of the "Rock" towns.  This one is called Standing Rock.  The Rock picture is right in the center of the town.  I had to get this one.  The other "Rock" town is Rock Stands.  It gets a bit confusing around here as to which "Rock" town you are from.  After checking on Betty Jean we drove to Montgomery to see Kat and Brian and have lunch with them at Firehouse Subs (yummy).  Kat took a picture of Brian (she wanted to play with the camera).  I grabbed one of the two of them.  They were on their way to the park to play frisbee.  I think they play something called Ultimate Frisbee with several of their friends.  Frank and I left them and headed back to Alex City to prebowl.  This week we have a meeting in Rock Mills and won't be able to bowl.  What a day....and what a traveling circle.  Hope you all have a blessed week!

Good photos! Loved the mills and the signs.
Great idea to find a focus, like the church signs. You will end up with quite a collection and could make a photo book.
I want to check out the Pray Together book.

I don't like seeing a dusty Bible either.

I think it's great you and the hubs are planning to spend time praying together - very important.

I like the painting on the rock. Let's hope they didn't rinse their brush in the water though.

You sure got around this week!
Lovely photos... I have a thing for mills too, they're just so lovely and functional at the same time.

Great pictures - love the mill shots the best. I thought about you this week while we were in NC. I saw a church sign & thought - I should take a picture of it to show Karen. But I didn't - & now I don't even remember what it said. Bummer!
