Wednesday Hodge Podge

Welcome to this week's edition of the Wednesday Hodgepodge.  If you want to participate don't forget to link up with Joyce by clicking here.  A note to Hodgepodgers-remember next week is Joyce's Spring Break, so no link on April 16th. The Hodgepodge will be back to its regularly scheduled programming the week of April 23rd. Thank you for understanding!
Okay, here we go...my answers to this week's questions-

1. April showers bring May flowers or so the saying goes. When did you last 'shower attention on someone or have attention 'showered' on you? Did you love it or did all that attention make you squirm?  On Saturday when my daughter and family and friends showered me with a surprise birthday party.  I thought I was going to a baby shower....was told to wear pink and white polka dot....I did....and so surprised.

 2. Share a favorite 'spring break' memory.  Not talking about just the college 'spring break' thing, but any favorite spring break memory you'd like to share. Keep it family friendly please!
2009 Spring  Break in Dublin for St. Paddy's day.  It was amazing!  I took at small group with me from school through EF tours and we spent 9 glorious days in England, Ireland, and Wales.
3. It's National Pecan Month...are you a fan? If so, what's your favorite dish that calls for pecans?
I do like pecans but they don't like me.  My favorite dish would be pecan pie or pecan nut rolls.

 4. 'Put all your eggs in one basket', 'egg on your face', rotten egg', 'walk on eggshells' or 'a good egg'...which eggs-pression could most recently be applied to your own life?  It would have to be egg on my face since I fell for the baby shower scam....and it turned out to be a surprise party for me.

 5. In my experience__________________________________________.
...when you think you are have it made....you don't.

 6. What's a favorite song with the word rain in its title or lyrics?
Well I'm a CCR fan as well, so Have You Ever Seen The Rain was the first thing that came into my head. Fire and Rain by James Taylor ranks a close second to me too. And in the Country Music genre I love Ronnie Millsaps Smokey Mountain Rain. I guess Joyce is my music soulmate.

7. What does the word hope mean to you?  When I hear the word hope I began singing the following hymn:
"My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
  • Refrain:
    On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
    All other ground is sinking sand,
    All other ground is sinking sand."
 8.  Insert your own random thought here.  Did you know that on April 15th the Titanic Sank, Lincoln died, taxes are due.....and I was born.  What a day to remember.  Did anything in history happen on the day you were born?

I haven't had a pecan nut roll in a long time. I remember getting them at Stuckey's on road trips. I've had others but they don't compare. That is pretty amazing about April 15th in history. Happy Birthday!
